Anesthesia Billing

New London Anesthesia & Pain Consultants is a group of anesthesiologists and anesthetists in private practice. You will receive a separate anesthesia bill in addition to the surgeonís fees and the hospital charges. Most health insurance policies will pay for all or a portion of the anesthesia fees. However, different policies vary greatly in the coverage provided. As a courtesy, we will file your insurance claim for you. If your insurance does not cover the entire fee, you will be billed for the balance.

New London is contracted with the following insurance companies:

This list is not a guarantee of New Londonís participation with your insurance, and your insurance may not cover all procedures. Patients should verify their benefits and our participation directly with their insurance company prior to receiving any services.

If we are not contracted with your insurance company, your anesthesia claim may still be considered at your in-network benefit level. Insurance companies often apply an exception to anesthesia claims to allow them to be paid at your higher benefit level if you have selected to use a hospital and surgeon in your network. Please verify if your insurance has an exception for anesthesia. This exception is often called RAPS (Radiology, Anesthesiology, and Pathology Services) or RAPL (Radiology, Anesthesiology, Pathology, and Laboratory). Please be aware that, even if your anesthesia is covered in-network, any post-operative pain management may be considered at your out of network benefit level.
